A flip-flop is an electronic circuit that has two stable states and can be used to store binary data. The PI74FCT273ATSE is a dual D-type flip-flop that offers a low-power, high-speed solution for applications requiring time-division multiplexing, memory address and data selection, as well as a data storage element. The PI74FCT273ATSE can be used in latch and shift register applications, providing for serial in-serial out (SISO) or serial in-parallel out (SIPO) operations.

Applications

The PI74FCT273ATSE provides two high-speed non-inverting D-type flip-flops. It can be used in a broad range of applications, including bit-slice memory address and data selection applications, as well as general latch and shift register applications. It is ideal for use in clock-dividers, counters, register files, programmable logic devices and digital multiplexers. It can also be used in synchronous or asynchronous reset/parallel enable functions.

Working Principle

The PI74FCT273ATSE utilizes two separate D-type flip-flops. Each flip-flop has two inputs: D (data) and clk (clock). When the clock signal is low, the D-input is read and the state of the flip-flop is changed accordingly. When the clock is high, the output of the flip-flop is latched in and remains stable until the next clock signal is received. Furthermore, each flip-flop has four outputs: Q (output), Q (complemented output), Q\' (active low output) and Q\' (active-low complemented output). The non-inverting flip-flops will generate the highest user-defined output when the clock signal is high.
