Introduction
PI74VCX16240AE is a 16-bit buffer/driver with 3-state outputs with three-state control. This device includes sixteen noninverting buffer/drivers with 3-state outputs. All outputs are designed to sink up to 48 mA and source up to 6 mA. The device has an active-low enable input, which when taken low, forces all outputs into the high-impedance OFF-state.
Application Field
The PI74VCX16240AE device is intended to be used as a memory and signal-routing device in high-performance memory and microprocessor-based systems. These systems can include clock and bus skew management as well as signal integrity. Additionally, this device can also be used to connect multiple bus segments. The PI74VCX16240AE device is ideally suited for automated test and instrumentation systems that require high-performance data acquisition.
Working Principle
PI74VCX16240AE consists of sixteen non-inverting buffer/drivers with 3-state outputs. 3-state outputs permit data transmission and reception on a single buffer/driver channel. The enable inputs (OE1, OE2) provides a means of disabling all outputs in the high-impedance off-state. The output enable (OE1/OE2) input is an active-low input--when taken low, all outputs will be in the high-impedance off-state. This can be used to disable the device while loading data onto the inputs, or while another device is transmitting data on the same bus line.
