An Evaluation and Demonstration Board (EDB) is an essential piece of technology used by engineers for the development, testing, and deployment of electronic circuitry. PIS-0925 is one such EDB, designed for the evaluation and demonstration of digital signal processing, radio frequency, and communications technologies. The board is equipped with the necessary circuitry and software to evaluate and educate engineers in the applications of these technologies.

The PIS-0925 Board comes with three different modules, each of which provide different functions and capabilities. The main module contains the circuitry and software necessary for the board to be used for its assigned purposes. This module consists of a dedicated Analog Devices™ AD8542 processor, a 4-channel ADC/DAC, a 14-bit DAC, a 12-bit ADC, a forward error correction (FEC) module, and a signal processing module. This module also includes several I/O ports, including four USB ports, one Ethernet port, and two Serial Communication Interfaces (SCI). Additionally, the board contains 32MB of static random access memory (SRAM) and 8MB of nonvolatile memory (NVM).

The second module of the PIS-0925 Board is the Communications Module. This module allows the boards to be connected to external devices and to the Internet. It contains a TI™ CC1000 Radio transceiver, a 12-bit Digital-to-Analog converter (DAC), a 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP), and a Digital Temperature Sensor (DTS). This module also provides support for Bluetooth® and Zigbee® protocols, making it possible for the boards to communicate with external devices.

The third module of the PIS-0925 Board is the DSP Applications Module, which allows engineers to program and debug the board. This module contains a PROGRAMMABLE DSP CORE, FIFO, Control, Instruction and Data ROM, and a 32-bit microcontroller. The programma DSP CORE contains a set of instructions that enable the board to perform various tasks, such as audio signal processing, video signal processing, image processing, telecommunications, and radio frequency (RF) signal processing. The FIFO provides a way to store data, which can then be read and written by the microcontroller.

In addition to providing the hardware, PIS-0925 also provides a software framework to support the boards. This framework is based on the TI CodeComposer Studio (CCS) integrated development environment (IDE). The framework enables engineers to write, compile, and debug their programs using C, C++, and Python. Additionally, the software framework provides drivers and libraries needed to support the hardware functions on the board.

The working principle of the PIS-0925 Board is based on components such as analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, signal processing cores, and control logic. By using these components, the board can process analog signals, such as audio or video, into digital signals. These digital signals can then be used to control external devices, such as to turn on an LED or a motor. The board can also receive digital signals from external devices, such as a keyboard, and process them into analog signals, such as audio or video.

The board can also be used to evaluate communication protocols. For example, the board can be used to evaluate the performance of Bluetooth or Zigbee protocols. Engineers can write code to simulate different transmissions, measure the performance of the protocol, and analyze the data using the software framework. This allows engineers to develop more efficient communication protocols.

The PIS-0925 Board is a versatile Evaluation and Demonstration Board that enables engineers to develop, evaluate, and debug digital signal processing, radio frequency, and communication technologies. It offers an extensive range of hardware and software components, which can be used to evaluate and demonstrate the applications of these technologies. The board’s working principle is based on components such as analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, signal processing cores, and control logic, enabling the board to process analog and digital signals and control external devices.
