The PIS-0928 Expansion Board provides a broad range of application fields and a working principle which allows for stand-alone communication between compatible host devices. This innovative board expands the user’s possibilities by providing a number of communication ports, enabling up to 128 I/O channels, and offering access to the standard CAN, J1939, USB, and Ethernet bus networks. In addition, it enables a number of data connections to most popular host controllers such as the industry-standard MCU and DSP controllers, as well as the Raspberry Pi single board computer.

The PIS-0928 Expansion Board provides an easy way to connect user application-specific modules, such as a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, a display module, a joystick, or an amplifier, to a host device. It has two RS-232/RS-485 ports, four opto-isolated inputs, eight programmable wetting outputs, and four shared I/O pins which can be user-programmed. In addition, the board features I 2 C and SPI external bus interfaces, enabling the connection of a range of external communications devices such as WIFI modules, Bluetooth devices, wireless receivers, and cellular modems.

The ports are equipped with the FTDI FT4232H IC, which provides up to eight I/O ports at data speeds up to 3 Mbps, and both Master and Slave SPI/I 2 C interfaces. The FT4232H device offers features such as high speed and low power consumption, and supports multiple slave devices in both full- and half-duplex communication. This IC also offers support for multiple levels of encryption, making it suitable for secure applications.

The PIS-0928 Expansion Board utilizes a number of different communications protocols and is two-way compatible with a range of host controllers, including the industry-standard MCU and DSP controllers and the popular Raspberry Pi single board computer. The board is compatible with the CAN, J1939, USB, and Ethernet bus networks, and supports 4-wire, 3-wire, and 2-wire communications protocols.

The PIS-0928 Expansion Board supports a range of data communication protocols, including UART, GPIO, I 2 C, SPI, and USB. The board also supports interrupt-based communications and various universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART) handshaking protocols. Furthermore, the board features an internal 6-pin GPIO connector which is capable of accepting up to eight external controlling sources.
