Optical sensors play a key role in industrial automation, improving accuracy and productivity of production and measurement processes in most industries. The PM-R24-R Photointerrupter is an ideal solution for these kinds of applications.
The PM-R24-R Photointerrupter consists of an optical emitter and detector in the same housing. The screw terminal actuator is mounted between the emitter and detector assemblies and actuates when the light from the emitter is blocked. The PM-R24-R has a light irradiation angle of +/- 20 degrees, and a detecting distance of 5.5 mm. It has a trigger voltage of 12V and a maximum photocurrent of 10mA.
The PM-R24-R has been designed specifically for use in applications where it is desirable to detect a light beam interruption without contact or mechanical wear. Common examples of these applications include, but are not limited to, safety sensors for industrial equipment, paper guides and web guides, mark reading and position detecting systems, and verification systems.
The working principle of the PM-R24-R is based on the interruption of a light beam which is generated by the embedded emitter in the device. When the light beam is blocked, an electronic signal is produced which is detected by the embedded photodiode. This signal can be used to signal that the beam has been blocked. The PM-R24-R utilizes a transistor output for the detection of the interruption.
