PPTC222KFMS is a type of Rectangular Connectors designed for a variety of applications. It comes in two variants: Headers and Receptacles, Female Sockets. The Headers variant are available in two varieties with different pin counts and pin spacing, while the Receptacle and Female Socket variants come in one pin count and pin spacing.The connector comprises of a thermally conductive housing with two metallic pins which are mechanically secured in place. It is designed to provide electrical conduction between two electronic devices with an integrated over-current protection mechanism and a positive locking feature. The over-current protection is implemented using a PPTC device – also known as a Polyswitch - which is mounted on the end of the second pin. This device comprises of a spring-like polymer with conductive particles and will open the circuit when a certain amount of current is exceeded.The power interface of the PPTC222KFMS consists of a mated male plug and female socket. The male plug is inserted into the female socket, thus releasing the PPTC protection device which will then allow the current to flow, forming the electrical connection. When the current exceeds a certain amount, the PPTC device will open the circuit, disconnecting the electrical connection.The PPTC222KFMS connectors are primarily used in high current applications such as power supplies, consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial applications due to their integrated over-current protection feature. The integrated feature provides an additional level of safety and security for the system.There are a number of advantages to using the PPTC222KFMS connector, such as its compact form factor, simple installation, and its positive locking design.
