The PT7C4512WEX is a high-performance programmable frequency synthesizer designed specifically to meet the demands of modern communications. It is suitable for wide range of frequency applications in the telecommunications, networking, broadcast and consumer end equipment. This device is well-suited for modern communication protocols, such as IEEE 802.11ah, LTE-Advanced, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T2), Wi-Fi, and High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC).The device is provided in a compact 16-pin QFN package and offers a high degree of integration with a wide variety of options for controlling its output frequency such as PLL, fractional synthesis and programmable frequency hopping. The device also offers very low jitter, low phase noise and low spurious outputs.The PT7C4512WEX is an ideal solution for applications such as clocking for digital multimedia systems, clock generation for embedded micro-controllers, RF local oscillators, and frequency agile systems. This device has a wide operating frequency range from 10MHz to 2.7GHz and can accommodate PLL, fractional-N and integer-N techniques to generate a wide range of output frequencies.The working principle of PT7C4512WEX is based on the use of a charge pump circuit and a VCO with a low-noise low-jitter output stage. The charge pump circuit is used to generate a voltage waveform which is proportional to the desired frequency to be synthesized. The waveform is then fed to the VCO which generates an output frequency which is dependent on this waveform and the VCO parameters.The PT7C4512WEX offers several features which help to enhance the device performance. Some of these include adjustable frequency loop bandwidth and damping, various control sources and clock outputs for different applications.
