They are designed to provide a very fast response to conditions that exceed their rated current or temperature.PTR016V0900-BK1 is a PTC resettable fuse with a rated voltage of 16V, a hold current of 9A, a trip current of 13A and a maximum voltage drop of 200mV. It is an ideal solution for the protection of computer/telecommunication equipment, such as LED lighting, industrial equipment, and portable electronic devices.The working principle of PTR016V0900-BK1 is based on the behavior of a PTC resistor when current passes through it. A PTC resistor is made up of crystalline structures which change their resistive properties in response to temperature. When the voltage across the PTC exceeds its rated value, the temperature of the device rises due to the Joule heating effect, leading to an increase in the resistive properties of the PTC. This decrease in the current results in a drop in the device\'s temperature, which in turn leads to a decrease in the resistive properties of the PTC.The thermal response time of the PTR016V0900-BK1 resettable fuse is very fast (less than 200μS) and the time to trip is dependent on the time constants set by the resistor and thermistor elements. Since the device is self-resetting, it can be used in applications requiring only temporary protection.PTR016V0900-BK1 PTC resettable fuses are available in a variety of sizes, from compact (1.3mm x 2.5mm) to large (8mm x 10mm). The device is designed for surface mount application and can be mounted on both FR-4 and polymer substrates.
