PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Resettable Fuses have been around since the late 1960s and are used in a variety of applications ranging from consumer electronics to medical devices. PTC resettable fuses operate by utilizing a special heating element to create an electrical arc between two metal plates. When current passes through the plates, the heating element heats up, resulting in a reset of the device.
