The working principle of the PTV08040WAD is based on the Buck converter topology. Buck converter, also known as step down converters, work by essentially reducing the voltage from the input to the output. A Buck converter is composed of an inductor, a diode, capacitor and a MOSFET switch. The input voltage is coupled to the inductor, and the capacitor filters the output voltage. The inductor, capacitor and diode are connected in a low pass filter that smooths the output voltage.
The MOSFET switch is controlled by a PWM signal of the input voltage and output voltage. When the switch is turned on, the input voltage is coupled to the inductor and the output voltage is coupled to the capacitor.
