There is a hole on the supporting ledge for inserting the contact pins and the mating piece holds the pins in place. Secondly, a spring-like force on the plug pins will be exerted when the latch is closed. Thirdly, when latch is fully closed, the compression will help to ensure the plug pins are securely seated.
