The first layer, known as the sensing layer, is generally used to measure voltage, temperature, power, amperage and other physical parameters. Finally, the fourth layer, known as the interface layer, is used to convert the data gathered by the board into a readable format (e.g. xml) and to provide graphical representation (e.g. charts).
