DC DC Converters
DC to DC power converters provide a method of reliable power conversion, used to change the voltage of an electrical signal. R1D-243.3-R is a topology of DC to DC converter and is used in applications such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS systems), inverters, variable DC power supplies, and many other applications.
Application Field
R1D-243.3-R DC to DC power converter is a high current rated device used in applications such as high power industrial equipment, energy storage systems, solar/wind power plants, battery chargers, telecommunication systems, and other general purpose resistive and inductive loads. The applications also extend to down-conversion and up-conversion, and requires conversion from high voltage to low voltage with high current. This topology is capable of providing an average of 100W to 3000W output power, and yields an efficiencies in the range of 85-93%.
Working Principle
R1D-243.3-R DC to DC converter utilizes an inductor, diode, and a capacitor to transfer the electrical energy from one side of a circuit to another. The control circuit utilizes a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique to control the output voltage according to a given reference. The circuit works with a single switch operating at a high frequency, allowing for a fast, efficient power conversion. The inductor stores energy, the diode provides a path for the energy, and the capacitor filters the output voltage.
The input voltage is provided to an isolated primary switch through an input rectifier. When the switch is turned on, the current will flow through the primary inductor, and energy will be stored in the inductor. When the switch is turned off, the stored energy in the primary inductor will be dumped to the output side of the circuit, through the secondary inductor and rectifier.
The output voltage is sensed by the controller and compared with the reference voltage. The output of the controller then controls the primary switch in order to maintain the reference voltage. The reference voltage can be programmed via an external resistor network, allowing precise adjustments for different applications.
Advantages
The R1D-243.3-R DC to DC converter offers many advantages, such as high efficiency, fast switching times (can offer high output power pulse), high power factor, low output ripple, small size due to single component heatsink, and a wide input voltage range. The wide range of applications, efficient power conversion, and advanced power conditioning technology makes the R1D-243.3-R one of the most dependable DC to DC topologies.
