DC DC Converters: R24P09S/P/R6.4 Application Field and Working Principle

The R24P09S/P/R6.4 DC DC Converter is a power-saving device that converts variable voltage to a stable output with flexible features and a broad range of applications. It is characterized by superior energy efficiency, low noise, high reliability, and vast compatibility. The R24P09S/P/R6.4 series converts input voltage from 6 to 24Volts to an outputs of ±13Volts with an accuracy of ±2%. The R24P09S/P/R6.4 DC DC Converter has a wide range of industrial, smart home, and automobile applications. It is suitable for Voltage Regulator Modules (VRM), Security Sys tems, LCD/LED displays, and power conditioned systems, as well as electric buses, motorcycles, and other vehicles requiring DC/DC conversion.The utilisation of the R24P09S/P/R6.4 DC DC Converter involves both its electrical characteristics and technical principles of working. The process consists of four major stages to convert the required voltage from input to output. The different stages of operation are explained below:

Input Stage

When a voltage is applied to the input terminal, it passes through an LC Low-pass filter to reduce voltage ripple and current spike. This filter acts as the choke that restricts the varying electrical signals and inhibits them from getting into the converter. It also blocks high frequency signals. The filtered input signal is then fed to the isolated power supply stage.

Power Supply Stage

In this stage the filtered input is converted from AC to DC. The main components involved in the conversion are rectifiers, transformers and filter capacitors. The rectifiers help in converting AC to DC while the isolation transformer and filter capacitors restrict the EMI radiation and keep the output voltage steady and clean.

Control Stage

In this stage the power is monitored and regulated. The control circuit monitors the output voltage and adjusts the necessary parameters for stabilized output. The regulation is done by the switching frequency and inductor coil in order to maintain the desired level of output voltage. The transistors are used to control the switching frequency and the corresponding time period.

Output Stage

The isolated power supply is passed to the output stage where the current is regulated with the help of inductors and capacitors. The pulse width modulation helps in regulating the output current and adjusting the energy according to the power requirement. The isolated power supply is converted back to AC by the rectifiers in the output stage.
