R2S-1215/P is a wide-input, higher-power, isolated DC-DC converter. It has a wide range input (9-18V, 18-36V, 36-75V) and output (3.3V, 5.0V, 12V, 15V, -12V, -15V). Working Principle

R2S-1215/P adopts a synchronous rectification design, which is based on a full bridge boost converter operating in the continuous conduction mode (CCM). In CCM, a PWM signal with adjustable duty cycle is used to control the output voltage. The EMI filter is designed to meet both EN55022 and conducted EMC requirements.

The basic operation of the R2S-1215/P is as follows: When the PWM signal is applied, the two transistors are switched at the same time. The current across the inductor is increased, thus, generating a higher voltage than the input. The output voltage is controlled by adjusting the duty cycle of the PWM signal. At the end of the switching cycle, the inductor current is discharged into the output capacitor and the circuit is reset.

For better performance, R2S-1215/P also adopts several advanced technologies such as soft start, output voltage scaling, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, overload protection, and extended current limit. All of these technologies ensure higher performance, better reliability, and longer life of the converter.
