During this process, the intensity of the output voltage (Vout) can be varied by variable–frequency PWM control of the switch, (in case of RB-2405S/H), through a fixed on/off ratio of 50%. This alteration helps in controlling the power output and energy-efficiency of the converter.The efficiency of a DC to DC converter also depends on the operating frequency, switching losses, parasitic losses, and output voltage accuracy, etc. The dominant losses are switching losses in power devices and conduction losses due to non-ideal parasitic elements of the power stage. The RB-2405S/H operates at a frequency of 230 kHz, which helps to reduce the size of the electrolytic output capacitors and overall size of the converter. At the same time, it reduces the losses due to frequency switching and can reach high efficiency rates of up to 90%.
