Through Hole Resistors are components used in most circuit designs which serve the purpose of inhibiting the flow of electricity by either reducing the voltage or controlling current. The RC12JT820K is a particularly common through hole resistor designed for use in a variety of applications. Its versatility makes it ideal for a range of processes including performance testing, circuit repair, data logging, and telecommunication.

The RC12JT820K is principally a Carbon Film resistor, but also contains a metals alloy layer beneath the resistor’s carbongrain coating to control the temperature coefficient. This combination of Carbon Film and Metallic alloy gives it an incredibly wide range of uses due to its low cost and accuracy of performance. This helps set it apart from some of the other through hole resistors on the market.

In terms of its practical application, the RC12JT820 is commonly used in Analog / Digital circuitry. Generally, an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) is used to measure the amount of voltage in an analog signal that is transmitted to a digital circuit. The RC12JT820K is used to control the flow of voltage across the circuit by preventing any large voltage leaps that could damage the ADC’s operation. This then prompts the ADC to translate the signal into digital form, allowing the signal to be further processed by the digital circuit.
