AC DC Converters
An AC DC Converter or Alternating Current to Direct Current is a device, or system of devices, that can convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). It can be used to transfer electrical energy from AC to DC, typically in the form of an electronic circuit or a transformer. The RCP-1600-48 AC DC Converter is a device that is used to provide low-cost, high-speed AC-to-DC conversion, typically in applications requiring power of up to 1600 Watts.
Application Field
The RCP-1600-48 AC DC Converter is suitable for a variety of applications, including:
- Lighting, Automation and Communication Products
- Computer Power Supplies
- AC-DC Adaptors
- Test & Measurement Equipment
- Military & Aerospace Applications
Working Principle
The RCP-1600-48 AC DC Converter works by using a rectifier, or rectification circuit. The rectifier is a device that converts AC into DC by removing alternate half-cycles of the AC voltage. This is done using diodes that allow current flow in one direction only. The rectification process is typically done using semi-conductor diodes or transistors, which allow for efficient transfer of power, as well as for protection from inrush of current.
After the AC is rectified, it can then be transformed into a desired, higher voltage by means of a power transformer. This transformer provides considerably higher current than the input AC and is also used to control the amount of current delivered. Finally, the voltage is adjusted and regulated using a voltage regulator, which is typically a highly efficient linear device.
