RDK-12GSRD-ALTRA00 Application Field and Working Principle
RDK-12GSRD-ALTRA00 is an Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit developed by Texas Instruments. This board have the capability to demonstrate and evaluate different types of HF radar systems by combining a wide range of technologies, from RF / Wi-Fi to radar algorithms. This board is highly capable of extracting the shape and orientation of an object, boundaries of moving objects, measure the distance and velocity of the detected object, detect the object that are moving with varying velocities, tracking the detected objects in real time and monitoring the environment of the radar system. In addition, this board helps to measure the speed and acceleration of falling objects, determine the number of objects present in a certain area, as well as measure the radar cross-section of the detected object.
Working PrincipleThe RDK-12GSRD-ALTRA00 board utilizes the concept of HF radar systems to detect objects in the radar system by evaluating the echoes of radio waves. By using various techniques such as Doppler Shift, Wavelet Analysis and Fuzzy Logic, this board is capable of extracting data about the objects detected in the wave pattern. Generally, the transmitted signal of the RDK-12GSRD-ALTRA00 board is modulated with a certain frequency to produce a narrowband waveform. The arrival of objects in the echo of the transmitted signal is identified with the help of Doppler Shift technique. The received echo signal is then converted to digital form and sent to the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) block on the board. This block is used to convert the analog signal to equivalent digital signal. The FFT block of the board is capable of extracting discrete frequency components from the received signal. After the signals are converted, the signal processing block of the board computes the Fourier transform of the received signal to produce the wavelet representation of the signal, which provides further information about the detected objects. Once the frequency components are identified, the signals are further processed by a high-speed ADC device, and the signal is classified with the help of Fuzzy Logic techniques. This helps to identify the type of the detected object in the signal, and ultimately helps to measure the parameters like distance and velocity of the object.
