An Evaluation Board - LED driver, such as the RDK-257, is a product that allows a user to accurately and reliably control the power output and other variables of an array of LEDs in various applications. It can be used for a variety of different applications, such as, but not limited to: lighting, automotive, display, photometry, and image processing.
The RDK-257 is a three-channel evaluation board. It is an adjustable linear current source capable of driving three independent LEDs (or three strings of LEDs).The power of each channel can be adjusted from 45mA to 130mA with a resolution of 10mA, allowing for very precise control of each channel. It also features a power-adjustment voltage of 0.1–20V, allowing for different levels of current control.Additionally, the RDK-257 features a simultaneous dimming function, allowing for multiple LEDs to be dimmed together without the need for additional circuits.
The RDK-257 is designed to be easy to use. It can be connected to the user’s computer by a mini USB port and works with PCVolta LED Driver software. The included PCVolta LED Driver software provides a GUI interface that allows the user to quickly adjust current for each LED channel and to program automatic dimming functions. Additionally, the included software allows a user to monitor the temperature of the LEDs to ensure safe operation.
The main component of the RDK-257 is a DC/DC converter IC. The DC/DC converter in the RDK-257 is capable of converting a DC input voltage from 12V to 36V into a stable, adjustable output current up to a maximum of 130mA. The RDK-257 includes a switching frequency of 300kHz for a high efficiency and low noised LED current control.
The RDK-257 is designed to provide an effective and reliable solution for driving LEDs in a wide range of practical applications. Thanks to its adjustable output current, the RDK-257 can be used to drive an array of LEDs ranging from small displays to high-powered lighting applications.
