DC DC converters provide power conversion between two voltage domains. One such device is the REC3-2405SRW/H/B/SMD, a switching power supply that can efficiently convert input DC voltage into an output of 24V up to 5A (120W). It is a wide input range DC/DC converter with full scale adjustable output. It offers high efficiency, excellent performance, and 3-in-1 regulated output capabilities.The REC3-2405SRW/H/B/SMD is a state-of-the-art switching DC-DC converter, with an operating frequency of 1 MHz. It has a high efficiency rate of up to 86%, and can support a wide range of operating temperatures (-40°C to +85°C). It is also "Soft Start" enabled, which allows for a gradual rise in output voltage.The REC3-2405SRW/H/B/SMD uses a switching technique for its DC/DC conversion. This technique uses a switch device at the input of the converter, which is driven between two states. In one state, the device is open, allowing the input voltage to come through. In the other state, it is closed, and the output voltage is connected to the input voltage. The currents then flow through the inductor and diode in a particular order.The inductor, part of the module’s Power Stages, is the primary component of the DC/DC converter. In the first mode, the inductor is charged by the input voltage. The current in the inductor increases as the voltage is applied to it. When the switch turns off, the current stored in the inductor is drawn by the diode in a continuous fashion.The inductor converts the DC energy to AC energy. The AC energy is supplied to the switching device at the input side of the converter, which controls when and how long the output voltage is delivered. The switching device is synchronized with the frequency of the AC energy. The operating frequency of the switch can also be adjusted by using a frequency control pin.The output voltage is regulated by the on-board voltage regulator. The voltage regulated output is then post filtered and delivered to the load. The post filtering is performed in order to reduce any voltage ripples, which may occur due to the switching.The REC3-2405SRW/H/B/SMD is designed to offer robust power conversion performance, high efficiency, good noise immunity, and a wide operating temperature range. It is the ideal solution for numerous power applications in telecommunications, automotive, industrial, and medical markets.
