Modular connectors, or modular jacks, are a versatile, compact, and rugged interconnection system, allowing data, power, and communications to run simultaneously in an efficient manner. The RJHSE3P87 Modular Connector is a high-speed, Ethernet-grade Modular Connector, designed for mission-critical applications in harsh environments.

Application Field

The RJHSE3P87 connector is primarily employed for various Ethernet network applications, providing full support for 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet systems. It is wired TIA/EIA 568A/B compliant and optimised for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications, enabling PoE+ (IEEE802.3at) across 4-pairs up to 18W. It supports SFPs, ideal for Fibre Optic systems, as well as Miniature Coaxial Connector systems. In addition, it is also compliant with Home Plug AV, USB 3.0, and DisplayPort.

The RJHSE3P87 connector features shielded receptacle frames for efficient protection from EMC interference, providing high durability and reliability in extreme environments with temperatures ranging from -45°C to +105°C. This makes it ideal for diverse environments, including Industrial Automation and Automotive, as well as diverse applications such as robotics, power supply management, and LED lighting.

Working Principle

The RJHSE3P87 connector utilises a panel-mounted jack receptacle, designed to mate with a metal shell plug (with contacts) for secure connection and system performance. This is enabled through a pair of locks, which provide a secure connection and prevent cross-connection between contacts. Moreover, the metal shell plugs provide additional protection for contacts, safeguarding them from dust and debris.

The RJHSE3P87 connector also features one-piece contacts with gold-plated interface to ensure low contact resistance and excellent connection quality. The contact length provides optimal spring pressure, enabling a secure mating and robust connection between plug and jack. It also has a simple and effective latching system comprising of an egg-shaped latch and a slotted wide line latch clip, enabling fast and easy assembly. Furthermore, the RJHSE3P87 connector is compliant to IEC 61076-3-106 and UL94V-2.
