TVS (transient voltage suppressor) Varistors, MOVs (metal oxide varistors) are two terms which often get interchanged. This means they are both solutions which protect against over voltage conditions. Varistors are basically two terminal semiconductor devices, these are used to protect against alternating overvoltages & surges. MOVs are two terminal devices, made up of a ceramic cover along with metal oxide elements inside. When these MOVs come into contact with a rising voltage, it will limit current flow.

ROV05H121K-2 is a type of varistor which is designed to respond quickly to overvoltage transients and is mainly used to protect low voltage power/signal lines of PCBs in base band modem applications. It is configured in a DO-213AA package, with a 4.5mm diameter, and a total height of 2.8mm. This component provides a RoHS compliant solution, which is compatible with 1.7KVAC transient voltage for a period of 10/1000µs.
