DC-DC converters are devices used to convert a direct current output voltage to another, usually different, direct current voltage. They are commonly used in a wide variety of applications and are designed to provide either stepping up or stepping down of the voltage. DC-DC converters come in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and capacities and can be used for a range of different applications.

RSD-1224-R Application field and Working Principle

The RSD-1224-R is a,HIgh-Efficiency Non-Isolated, Step-Down DC-DC converter module. It is designed for LED lighting system applications from a 12 to 24V DC input range. The RSD-1224-R converter features a PFC/forward type topology for high power factor performance, high conversion efficiency, very low ripple currents, and low output voltage ripple. The module also has a primary loop over-current protection, over-voltage protection and short circuit protection, as well as integrated thermal shutdown.

The input range of the module is 12-24VDC. With this range, the adjustable output voltage can reach 4.2-36VDC. The output voltage could be regulated and adjusted with the help of an external divider which is connected to a pin between the power pins. The output can be in constant voltage mode or in constant current mode. In the constant voltage mode, the output voltage is adjusted by the divider network and can be accurately regulated within +/- 5%. At the same time, the output current can reach 6A and the efficiency is up to 95%.

The RSD-1224-R module is recommended to be used for applications where the power consumption is between 0.5 and 6A.
