.<p>DC to DC converters, such as the RTS-1209/HP-R, are used to convert a DC voltage to another DC voltage, or to connect a DC source to a load. They are typically used in automotive, communication, medical and aerospace applications. The RTS-1209/HP-R is an isolated step-down DC to DC converter with four voltage combinations. The input voltage range is 12-60VDC, and the output voltage and current combination is selectable from 1.5-3.3V/20A, 3.3-5V/12A, 5-7.5V/8A, and 7.5-12V/6A.</p><p>The RTS-1209/HP-R utilizes a buck-type switching topology, where a power MOSFET is connected between the input and output voltage sources. When a voltage is applied to the MOSFET gate, the voltage at the source is passed through to the load. When the voltage to the gate is removed, the voltage drop across the MOSFET is zero, blocking current from passing from the input voltage to the load. This switching action regulates the output voltage and current.</p><p>The output voltage of the RTS-1209/HP-R can be monitored via a voltage sensing wire. The output voltage is sensed, and the output voltage feedback is sent back to the input. If the output voltage rises or falls away from its set-point voltage, the RTS-1209/HP-R will adjust the switching frequency to maintain the set-point voltage.</p><p>The RTS-1209/HP-R also has current limiting, thermal shutdown, over-voltage protection and under-voltage lockout. In the event of over-voltage or under-voltage, the converter will shut down and a fault LED will be illuminated.</p><p>The RTS-1209/HP-R can be used for low-voltage applications such as automotive and communication, as well as for high-voltage applications such as medical and aerospace. It is relatively easy to use and is very efficient, making it a popular choice for a variety of applications.</p>
