Working Principle of RTS-1505

This causes a current to flow through the external loop-compensation resistor and the inductor, increasing the output voltage. The controller turns off the switch when the current reaches the programmed current limit, allowing the energy stored in the inductor to flow to the output.

When the output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the gate driver turns off the switch. This causes the current in the inductor to decrease as energy is transferred back to the input. The controller turns the switch back on when the current reaches the programmed current limit. This cycle is repeated until the output voltage reaches the reference voltage.

The key advantage of the quiescent-current regulation method is that the input current ripple is significantly reduced, resulting in improved power-conversion efficiency. The quiescent-current regulation method can also be used to improve the power factor when the RTS-1505 is used as a converter in a three-phase system.

The RTS-1505 also implements a dynamic turn-on and turn-off switching pattern redundancy, which provides improved voltage regulation and ensures reliability. The turn-on and turn-off switching patterns are programmed for optimized performance under different operating conditions such as low capacitive loads, capacitor discharge loads, and high capacitive loads.
