PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Special Purpose

The S-1701W5041-M5T1G is a special purpose power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed and developed by Semtech Corporation. It integrates several types of voltage regulators, including a RT8647 LDO regulators, TPS650129 buck converter, RT8647 buck-boost converter, NX3006 pulse-width modulator, and TPS562151 step-down converter.

Application Field

The S-1701W5041-M5T1G is an ultra-compact PMIC that is suitable for high-performance mobile and wearable application systems. It provides up to 3A of single output power at up to 6A of total output power. It has wide input voltage range from 2.4V to 5.5V, and the output voltage range is from 0.6V to 5.3V. Working Principle

The S-1701W5041-M5T1G integrates a total of 7 power regulators. The power comes from a wide input voltage range of 2.4V to 5.5V and is then divided into six output voltages, ranging from 0.6V to 5.3V, via the different regulators. In addition, each output voltage can be individually controlled via an I²C-bus interface.

The RT8647 LDO regulators in the S-1701W5041-M5T1G provide two output voltages, ranging from 0.8V to 5V. The TPS650129 buck converter is used for supplying the core regulator and provides a single output voltage ranging from 0.6V to 5.3V. The RT8647 buck-boost converter is used for supplying IO regulators and has three output voltage channels ranging from 0.6V to 5.3V. The NX3006 pulse-width modulator (PWM) has an output voltage of 3.3V and is used to control the voltage of an external buck converter. The TPS562151 provides one output voltage ranging from 0.8V to 5V. It is used for controlling the voltage for DDR and foundry related applciations.

In addition, the S-1701W5041-M5T1G provides a selection of features such as power sequencing, single-rail enable/disable, temperature sensing and control, power-on-reset (POR) with adjustable reset delay, over-temperature protection, over-voltage protection (OVP) with adjustable threshold, thermal-overload protection, and current-sense monitoring.
