Memory: S-24C04DI-I8T1U5 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe S-24C04DI-I8T1U5 is an I2C-bus EEPROM memory device, which is widely applied across many applications to store and serve data. With a wide range of uses, this Non-Volatile Memory chip offers an effective solution to many requirements. It is designed to have a nominal supply voltage of 1.8V and a maximum operating current of 1mA. This device provides a total memory capacity of 16Kbits (2048 bytes).I2C-bus uses a two-wire communication system operating on a master/slave basis which integrates a bi-directional data line (SDA), and a clock line (SCL). The memory device can operate as a slave or master, allowing multiple devices to be connected via the I2C-bus. The S-24C04DI-I8T1U5 is capable of storing data starting from the address 0 to the last address location, 2047.The writing process of the S-24C04DI-I8T1U5 is similar to that of the SPI and is carried out by the transmission of the data via two bytes, the control byte and the data byte. The control byte contains the Memory Device’s Create/Read/Write pin (C/R/W) and the Address Low/High (A1/A2), while the data bytes contain the address of the memory location. After the control and data bytes are sent the Memory Device performs the operation requested by the master (write, read or search mode,Sleep Mode). The data stored in the S-24C04DI-I8T1U5 can be read at any time, however it is only writable through the I2C-bus write cycle described above. The device can also be written to in the ‘Sleep’ mode, which is designed to reduce the power consumption of the device at the expense of longer write times.
