The S-8232AEFT-T2-G battery management system is a high-performance power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that is specifically designed to provide over-voltage protection, over-current protection and thermal protection features for lithium-ion battery packs in consumer and industrial devices. The S-8232AEFT-T2-G is a highly integrated system capable of managing andmonitoring up to 8 cells in series. This PMIC includes a high accuracy measurement of cell voltage and temperature, fail-safe protection, backup charge and discharge channels, current sense, adjustable charge and discharge voltage and current thresholds, and greatly reduced external component count and complexity. The main features of the S-8232AEFT-T2-G PMIC include: Wide Input Voltage Range, Ultra-Fast Protection with <100ns Response Time, High-Current Charging, Cell Balancing and Backup Charge/Discharge Channels, Over-Voltage and Over-Current Protection, Adjustable Charge and Discharge Voltage/Current Thresholds, and Temperature and Other Measurements. The PMIC also features a low power standby state and is designed to protect the battery cell and the system itself against thermal and operational abuse.

The S-8232AEFT-T2-G provides wide input voltage range, accommodating a lithium-ion battery pack of 6 cells (2.5 to 4.2V) through 8 cells (3.2 to 4.2V). This allows the PMIC to draw the maximum amount of power from the battery while still protecting the system from over-voltage and over-current conditions. The fast protection speed of the S-8232AEFT-T2-G is only <100ns, achieving reliable protection even in the most abusive conditions. The PMIC also includes significant over-current and over-voltage protection levels that can be adjusted to meet individual applications’ requirements.

The S-8232AEFT-T2-G also includes a high-current charging channel (up to 2A) for rapid charging of the battery packs. And the cell balancing feature can adaptively balance the cells in the battery pack and ensure a reliable, long-term operation. In addition, the PMIC includes a simple backup charge channel and discharge channel to provide extra capacity or power to the battery pack when needed.
