The S-8232NWFT-T2-G is a highly efficient and integrated battery management solution comprised of a step-up dc/dc synchronous charger and system supervisor. With its small form factor, rapid charge time capability and low system power consumption, the S-8232NWFT-T2-G streamlines development of space-limited, energy efficient applications. This PMIC - Battery Management solution can be used for a wide range of portable scan and battery-based applications such as handheld scanners, medical devices, wearables, gaming, navigation and industrial instruments.

The S-8232NWFT-T2-G features a highly efficient dc/dc synchronous buck/boost charger. The charger automatically adjusts the output voltage to its optimum value, allowing it to charge a wider selection of battery types than typical boost converters. This eliminates the need for design teams to manually set the output voltage that can cause instability and is limited to 6V at no load conditions due to the tradeoff of efficiency. The charger’s ultra-low start-up current and quasistatic mode ensure high efficiency across the entire operating range and further reduces overall power consumption. The charger automatically enters quasistatic mode to reduce current drain from the battery after it is fully charged, providing extended battery life.

The S-8232NWFT-T2-G also integrates a microcontroller to monitor system status and multiple analog and digital inputs for assessing battery health, charger and system voltage. When required, an internal MOSFET switch can also be enabled to quickly disable the charger. With the introduction of the unique independent buck/boost function, system designers can benefit from selecting the appropriate output voltage according to their system requirements, while also taking into account the impact of battery cell power depletion during partial cycle operation.

The S-8232NWFT-T2-G also includes a unique system power supervisor function that can be used to quickly and accurately track battery inputs and outputs, allowing the system to efficiently manage energy levels. The supervisor monitors the battery voltage and power line current, allowing the system to accurately estimate how much energy is available from the battery and eliminating the need for a dedicated power dispatcher. With its low quiescent current and low power consumption in sleep mode, the S-8232NWFT-T2-G offers longer device run times and improved power management performance compared to existing solutions.

The S-8232NWFT-T2-G’s high performance and feature integration eliminates the need for additional components, reducing product costs and simple one-step charging ensures users a fast and efficient charging experience, perfect for any application.
