The S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U is a power-management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for battery management in consumer and industrial applications. This PMIC is designed to manage the charging of Li-Ion (lithium-ion) batteries, and protects the downstream circuit from overvoltage and undervoltage conditions.The S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC allows the usage of both single-cell and multiple-cell battery packs with an input voltage range between 2.8V and 14V. It has two current-sensing methods: voltage-mode and current-mode. In voltage-mode, the current-sensing resistance is connected between the battery pack and the PMIC\'s ground, and the voltage is measured with a 16-bit converter. In current-mode, the current through the sensing resistance is measured with a 16-bit converter.The S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC is also equipped with built-in protection features such as over-current protection and over-temperature protection. It also features a precision voltage regulation to maintain the desired battery charging voltage with minimal energy wastage. Furthermore, it includes a Cell Selection feature which allows the user to select the cell to be charged or discharged.Furthermore, the S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC also offers an output voltage monitor and safety timer, programmable via external resistor values to monitor the battery status. By monitoring voltage levels and conditions, the S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC can detect over-discharge or over-charge conditions and then activate the safety timer to avoid potential battery damage.In terms of safety, the S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC is compliant with the Li-Ion battery safety standards such as the Automotive Sliver Standard (AEC-Q100) and the UL 1642 safety standard for consumer applications. Additionally, the device also features reverse-current protection to prevent damage if a Li-Ion battery is wrongfully connected with its terminals reversed.The S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U PMIC also features an adjustable lithium-ion battery charge termination current and an optional end-of-charge timer. This allows the PMIC to ensure the most efficient charge possible by terminating the charge when the battery reaches its equilibrium voltage.In terms of package options, the S-8244AAJFN-CEJT2U is available in a WLCSP (wafer-level chip-scale package) with a low profile of 0.75mm, allowing for very space-efficient designs.
