The S-8250AAJ-I6T1U is a battery management PMIC that is used to protect rechargeable Li-Ion and Li-Pb batteries. The device features a host of features enabling the devices to work in various applications. These features include a safety system, Low Cost Protection, Over-Current Protection, Over Voltage Protection and Adaptive Current Limiting.
The safety system built into the S-8250 works to ensure the safety of the device and the batteries it is used with. It utilizes an internal temperature sensor, a battery current monitor and an over-current protection circuit to protect the battery from over-charging or discharging cycles. The temperature sensor is used to monitor the temperature of the device and the battery and if either exceed a predetermined temperature threshold, the battery will be disconnected from the device. The over-current protection circuit will also disconnect the battery from the device if the current goes beyond a predetermined value.
Low Cost Protection is one of the key features of the PMIC. It simplifies the battery protection circuitry and allows the device to be manufactured at a lower cost. This protection provides for the disconnection of the battery from the device if the battery voltage goes beyond the selected range, the minimum or the maximum. Over Voltage Protection is also included in the PMIC and this will provide protection in the event that the battery voltage goes above the selected range.
In addition, the PMIC also includes Adaptive Current Limiting. This feature enables the device to modify the output current so as to control the amount of current drawn from the battery. This reduces the chances of the battery over-charging and provides better protection to the battery. The PMIC also features an EEPROM, which can be customize based on the requirements of the application.
The S-8250 battery management PMIC is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as, battery powered devices, 3D printers, portable medical devices and mobile handsets. The device has been designed to interface with high-current applications and provides a reliable battery protection system. It is highly versatile and can be customised for any application which requires a battery management PMIC.
