PMIC - Battery ManagementThe S-8254AAGFT-TB-G is a power management IC (PMIC) designed for use in battery management applications. It is a highly integrated and cost-effective battery management solution that is ideal for Li-ion and Li-polymer battery packs. The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G provides protection and monitoring of battery cells and includes features like programmable overcharge protection, overdischarge protection, short-circuit protection, and temperature protection. It also provides load shedding, cell balancing, power on/off control, and dynamic power supply sequencing.The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G has five operating modes: stand-by, sleep, low power, normal power, and charging. In stand-by mode, the S-8254AAGFT-TB-G monitors battery and loads, but does not actively control power supply. In sleep mode, it reduces output voltage and current to conserve power. In low-power mode, more current is provided to the load to reduce the sleep time required. In normal-power mode, the IC monitors and controls the power supplied to the load. In charging mode, the IC charges the battery according to the programmed input voltage and current. The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G is designed to prevent overcharging of battery packs by monitoring the battery cells and providing programmable current, voltage and temperature limit protections. It has a pre-charge function that helps prevent initial inrush current when a battery pack is connected to the charger. The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G also protects against overdischarge of battery packs by providing programmable voltage and current limit protections. The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G includes load-shedding features to conserve power. The cell-balancing feature helps balance the charge between cells in multi-cell battery packs. The chip also includes dynamic power supply sequencing to ensure proper power supply sequence and time to load for different applications.The S-8254AAGFT-TB-G is an excellent power management solution for battery management applications.
