A fixed inductor is a type of electronic component whose inductance does not vary when exposed to external conditions such as voltage, temperature or other electric or magnetic fields. This occurs thanks to the fact that it does not have any movable parts and is made up of one or more coils of conductive material. When a current passes through an inductor, the current produces a magnetic field which in turn induces an opposing voltage. This voltage is known as the back-EMF and it opposes the applied current.
