The SEN-13963 evaluation board is a comprehensive evaluation platform for resistive and capacitive touch panel solutions. It is based on Microchip Technology\'s MPR121 capacitive touch controller, and is targeted specifically at the design engineer looking to evaluate, develop and debug touch panel solutions. This evaluation board comes with a number of peripherals to support the development of the touch panel application.

The SEN-13963 application field applies to any application requiring a touch-sensing human interface, such as medical, industrial, automotive, consumer, retail and other interactive designs. The board\'s overvoltage protection and code-certified software drivers provide a robust and resilient design platform for realizing a touch-based product. This evaluation board supports a resistive 4-wire touch sensing function, and is capable of measuring the position of a finger touching the panel.

The SEN-13963 working principle is based on the MPR121 capacitance-to-digital converter, which contains the circuits and algorithms necessary to sense and track up to 12 simultaneous touches. The board is powered by a 3.3V power supply, and uses a 4-pin FFC connector to power the segment and bus lines associated with the display panel. It also contains several peripheral components, such as a lithium ion battery, a regulated 5V power supply, and a user-selectable gain setting.

The board controls the capacitive sensing array by driving the voltage levels of the electrode lines. The MPR121 capacitance-to-digital converter chip measures the capacitive input signals and transmits them over the I2C bus. The signals received from the electrodes are used to calculate the position of the finger and its relative distance from the panel.
