Rectangular Connectors - Headers, Receptacles, Female Sockets

Rectangular connectors, commonly referred to as headers, receptacles, and female sockets, are used to connect electrical and electronic components on circuit boards. They are generally made of plastic with a few exceptions. The most common types of rectangular connectors are the SFM–105–T2–S–D–A–P–TR types.

Application Field

Working Principle

SFM–105–T2–S–D–A–P–TR rectangular connectors are typically molded to a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and two of them are inserted into the component and PCB. The contacts, or pins, of the connector are then inserted into the respective receptacles of the component or PCB. The pins then make a connection by pushing into the opposing surfaces of the component or PCB. This forms an electrical connection between the two pins. Finally, the board or component is locked into place with a snap-in locking tab, providing a superior connection.

SFM–105–T2–S–D–A–P–TR rectangular connectors are also designed with a variety of features that provide increased reliability and superior performance, such as a lower insertion force, a more secure fit, higher retention force, an anti-rotation feature, and an improved EMI/RFI protection. In addition, they are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, vibration, and humidity.
