The SI-8005Q is a DC/DC switching regulator that is able to efficiently regulate output voltages while maintaining excellent line and load regulation. It operates from a 5V to 15V input voltage range and provides up to an adjustable 5A of current. Working Principle

The SI-8005Q is a synchronous buck regulator that utilizes an internal high-side MOSFET and low-side synchronous rectifier to regulate the output voltage. The switching controller of the IC is directly connected to the gate drive of both transistors, which synchronises their operations. The IC accepts PWM signals from an external controller to regulate the output voltage. A feedback resistive divider connected between the output and the REFIN/FB terminal monitors the output voltage and the feedback voltage is compared to the internal reference voltage (VREF). The difference is then amplified and used to adjust the duty cycle of the PWM pulses. This allows the IC to regulate the output voltage and provide dynamic regulation in response to line and load changes.

The SI-8005Q also features an adjust pin (ADJ) to set the output voltage. By varying the external resistive divider connected to the adjust pin, the output voltage can be adjusted within a 2.5V to 15V output voltage range.

In addition to providing dynamic regulation, the SI-8005Q also offers programmable current limiting and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) features. External components can be used to set the current limit threshold, while the UVLO threshold can be adjusted by varying the external resistive divider connected to the VTH pin.
