PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators

The SI-8033S type power module belongs to the PMIC (Power Management IC) voltage regulator family, and is a series of DC/DC switching regulators. This miniature module has a wide input voltage range (8V to 60V) and can provide a fixed output voltage of 5V, and provides up to 5A of continuous output current. The SI-8033S module retains many of the features of larger voltage regulators, including under-voltage lockout, external enable, thermal shutdown, and an adjustable frequency of up to 1MHz. The module is packaged in a surface-mountable SIP (Single-in-line Package) to save space, and measures just 26mm x 15mm. It combines a low-dropout regulator with a fast-switching switch in a single package. The working principle of the SI-8033S is based on the regulated flow of charge through a pair of internal switches, which are controlled by an internal control circuit. The switch is opened and closed in response to the output voltage, which is read by the control circuit. When the measured voltage is different from the set voltage, the switch is opened and closed accordingly to keep the output voltage continuously stable.an adjustable frequency of up to 1MHz. When the input power is applied, the switch is instantly activated by the control circuitry. The switch then closes and provides an output voltage with a very low dropout voltage, eliminating the need for external control circuitry. When the output current is low and the load is on the low side, the switch is slowly opened to prevent excessive power consumption. When the load is on the high side, the switch is opened faster to provide more output current. The SI-8033S has built-in over temperature protection, under-voltage lockout and external enable facilities. When the temperature rises above the set limit, the module will automatically shut down. Under-voltage lockout prevents the module from being operated at the wrong voltage level. The external enable facility allows the user to turn the module on or off through an external control signal.The SI-8033 series is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as IPC power supplies, industrial power supplies, medical equipment, automotive systems and digital home appliances. Due to its small size, high efficiency and low power dissipation, the SI-8033S is an ideal solution for applications with space and power constraints. The SI-8033S offers high efficiency, low ripple and noise, low input-output voltage differential and a wide input voltage range.
