Synchronous boost converters has a variety of applications in power management, from providing low-voltage output from high-voltage input to generating higher voltage from same input for powering loads. The SI-8033W belongs to the DC-DC Switching Regulators category, and is a type of synchronous boost DC-DC converter with wide input voltage range, high output accuracy and a wide range of load current.

The working principle of SI-8033W is based on the constant frequency synchronous boost converter topology. The controller continuously monitors input voltage, changes the PWM duty cycle of the FETs to maintain constant output voltage. Unlike a typical boost converter, the SI-8033W has an anti-reverse circuit to protect the power supply from overload and the input voltage from crossing its minimum value.
The SI-8033W\'s power devices and gate drivers are carefully matched and comprise of N-MOSFETs devices, high-current gate drivers for the MOSFETs, internal OTC and 10ms soft-start circuit. An external sensing current also provides slope compensation of the control loop that eliminates the need for a high gain compensation resistor for stability.
The SI-8033W has a built-in dynamic voltage offset protection that provides a circuit solution to minimize power dissipation in overload condition. Over current protection relies on sensing the input current with the positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistor, and can be enabled/disabled by an external voltage source. The IC also features Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Thermal Shutdown (TSD) and Over Voltage Protection (OVP) to safely protect the IC and power supply.
This highly integrated IC has a power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) up to 90dB and PWM frequency up to 1MHz, providing more accurate control and more flexible output power management.
The SI-8033W is well-suited for multiple application fields, such as PoE switch, telecom power supply. It also can be used in automotives, battery-powered devices, industrial system and products. The SI-8033W is ideal for large-scale use, such as for industrial and medical equipment, for example, in hospital devices, patient monitoring systems and mobile imaging devices.
