The SI3220DC0-EVB Evaluation Board provides a platform to evaluate the features and performance of the SI3220D-C0 ECM6 device family. It enables engineers to assess the integration of circuit breakers and controllers on dedicated hardware, and the system response to current external components like a solenoid and motor. This evaluation board is an excellent tool for system designers for testing and verification of their integrated solutions.AI3220DC0-EVB comprises a number of hardware and software components. It interfaces with other ECM 6 device family (SI3220D-C0) and with current external components. It operates with the recently released Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio IDE, required for real-time debugging and evaluation of the system.The SI3220DC0-EVB is powered from a 3.3V regulated DC power supply and is compatible with the Smart Interface provided in the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Driver. The board is provided with two ECM6 (SI3220D-C0) devices, each having a USB port that can be used to interface with the MPLAB IDE and Silicon Labs IDE.The SI3220DC0-EVB is provided with a socketed Micro Controller Module (MCM), four current limit switches, a triac & thyristor control module, a solenoid, and a red / yellow / green lamp module. The board comes with 14 DIP switches, one for switching on the MPLAB IDE mode and the other 13 for current limit settings. The SI3220DC0-EVB also has six interlock controls for controlling the current that can flow through the load.The SI3220DC0-EVB provides two ECM6 devices, one for system control and the other for driving the load. The MCM programmed with the application software interfaces with the ECM6 devices and facilitates communication between the system and the ECM6 devices. One of the ECM6, together with the four current limit switches and the triac & thyristor control module, helps to control the current that can flow through the load and provide current limit protection.The SI3220DC0-EVB is used to demonstrate real-time response to a variety of currents that can occur in the system. The red / yellow / green lamps module is used for a visual display of the current state. The board is used to evaluate the system performance if any of the current limit settings are exceeded. The board is also used to evaluate the ECM6 device family capabilities such as fault detections, Auto-recovery and thermal protection options. The SI3220DC0-EVB is an excellent evaluation and demonstration tool for system integrators and designers. It helps to assess system performance and facilitates prototyping of control solutions for ECM6 devices. Boasting of its accurate current sensing capabilities, the SI3220DC0-EVB helps to test the system response from external components like a solenoid and motor. It is also the ideal platform to test the integration of circuit breakers and controllers on dedicated hardware.
