Programmable Oscillators are used in many applications due to their ability to generate a wide range of accurately timed and frequency-governed signals. SIT1602BCU8-28E, one of the wide examples, combines a wide temperature range performance, small size and cost effectiveness with extraordinary stability and reliability. Designed with the most advanced CMOS technology, the proven SIT1602BCU8-28E programmable oscillator promises superior performance.

There are several fields of application where SIT1602 BCU8-28E is utilized, as it produces reliable and stable oscillations in a wide range from 800 Hz to 66 MHz and an also adjustable load between 10pF and 100pF. Some first commonly known applications are: military, aerospace and other high-reliability applications where a clock signal managing is required; consumer electronics, home appliances or computing devices over Ethernet where a multi-frequency is necessary; telecommunications applications are also included, as GSM and GPRS devices need synchronization between components.

The SIT1602BCU8-28E offers a low jitter of the clock signal for Ethernet applications, avoiding data corruption and with an especial attention to the consumer market with a proven cost impact. It is also appropriate to test equipment related to audio/video and graphics card applications as it generates a clock signal controlling the data rate you wish.

The working principle of the SIT1602BCU8-28E programmable oscillator is based on a linear integrated circuit in closed loop arrangement with its output signal left to conventional Quartz crystal resonator. It has been implemented with a dual loop architecture including the signal discretization, timing frequency spectrum and give the signal extra margin at signal edges improving the uniformity of edges depending on the user requirements.

Inside each oscillator there is an internal PLD (Programmable logic device) to control the feedback network, deciding deverting when is necessary or apply adjustable divider from its stored program. The Oscillator has two inputs and two outputs that enable the capability to modify its characteristics by applying an external frequency or a control voltage.

Basically, the SIT1602BCU8-28E programmable oscillator works as a mixed mode provides waveshaping for either the inputed signal or internal self-oscillations using VCO (Voltage controllable oscillator) and active filter, being both not possible at the same time. Thanks to this cost effective oscillator with adjustable frequency and pulse width it is ideal for consumer electronics and home appliances as they have fewer components to manage the signal and production costs have lower impacts.
