One such device is the SIT8008ACA3-33E Programmable Oscillator. This device utilizes a Programmable Internal Oscillator (PIO) to provide superior tuning over mechanical oscillator-based designs in terms of jitter, phase noise and aging.The SIT8008ACA3-33E is targeted for use in high-speed serial communications, such as in Switched Ethernet, SDH/SD, FC, and XAUI; and high-end computing, such as in PCI-x, AGP, and Hyper Transport applications. It is ideal for applications such as telecom equipment, broadcast equipment, printer controllers, and digital video applications.The SIT8008ACA3-33E features an oscillator design that utilizes a Programmable Internal Oscillator (PIO). This design includes a phase detector, an array of RC delay elements, a loop filter, and an active amplifier. The phase detector monitors the frequency of the input signal and compares it to the PIO\'s target frequency. The phase detector then adjusts the RC delay element array to change the output frequency accordingly.The SIT8008ACA3-33E has a programmable frequency range of 10 - 334.7 MHz, adjustable in increments of 0.01MHz and a frequency stability of ±50ppm over a temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. It also has a typical jitter performance of 0.3ps or less. These features makes it ideal for applications requiring a low-cost and frequency-agile solution.The advantages of using the SIT8008ACA3-33E over a mechanical tuning solution include improved jitter performance and frequency accuracy over temperature ranges and long-term stability. The PIO technology also eliminates the need for external components such as inductors and varactors, making it ideal for applications with limited space for component placement. The PIO technology also makes it easy to adjust the frequency of the output signal with its programmable frequency range.Finally, the SIT8008ACA3-33E provides a more cost-effective solution than traditional quartz oscillators, due to its small size and high accuracy.
