Programmable Oscillators have been used for various industrial consumer applications for many years; however, the SIT8008ACB8-30S oscillator is particularly suitable for a wide range of consumer and automotive applications. This oscillator provides superior performance and cost efficiency when compared to other oscillator technologies.

The SIT8008ACB8-30S is a Programmable Oscillator with an 8 MHz, single-ended clock output. It is an ideal solution for time-critical applications, such as automotive and consumer electronics. The clock output can be easily adjusted over a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. This makes it suitable for applications under variable environmental conditions.

In terms of working principle, this Programmable Oscillator is based on a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) architecture. This technology allows the output frequency to be adjusted, depending on the input frequency. The PLL circuit combines two feedback loops to maintain a fixed frequency relationship between the reference input and the output. The PLL contains a Phase Frequency Detector (PFD), a Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) and a digital phase shifter. When the reference frequency is applied to the PFD, it generates a voltage that is used to control the VCO frequency. The phase shifter, on the other hand, is used to fine tune the output frequency in order to maintain a fixed frequency relationship between the reference frequency and the clock output.
