Programmable oscillators are electronically tunable oscillators with very stable frequencies and wide frequency range. They are widely used in a variety of applications, such as telecommunications, data communication, security systems, scientific instrumentation and even military applications. The SIT8008ACE8-XXS series is a programmable oscillator designed especially for the above applications. It provides high stability and high frequency range, and its working principle is relatively simple.

The SIT8008ACE8-XXS programmable oscillator is based on Pierce oscillator topology. It is equipped with an oscillator core, a control circuit and an output buffer. Its firing circuit is an electronic switch that controls the generation of a high frequency signal.

The oscillator core of the SIT8008ACE8-XXS oscillator consists of a tank circuit, and a transistor acting as an active load. The tank circuit consists of an inductor and a capacitor, which determine the fundamental frequency of the oscillator.
