Programmable oscillators are devices that allow a signal\'s frequency, phase and amplitude to be programmed in a controllable manner. The SIT8008AIE7-18E is a special type of programmable oscillator that is composed of an embedded temperature compensated oscillator, frequency divider and a programmable register.

The oscillator component of the device uses active temperature compensation to provide stable frequency operation over a wide temperature range of -50℃ to +125℃. The device also operates at low power, a feature important for battery powered applications.

The SIT8008AIE7-18E contains an integrated frequency synthesizer and a D/A converter that allows user programming of the frequency. The frequency can be programmed in a range from 18MHz to 1.7GHz.

The working principle of the SIT8008AIE7-18E is based on a combination of a programmable register and a frequency divider. The divider is controlled by a reset input, the programming register and an enable signal. The reset input is the most important parameter for this device. When this input is logic high, the divider is reset and the frequency is divided by a factor of two. When this input is logic low, the divider works normally.

The programming register can be programmed by the user with a number that determines how many cycles the frequency will be divided. The programming register is programmed by connecting the appropriate external pins which allows selection of the desired frequency dividing ratio.

The enable input is used to activate the divider and control the frequency of the output signal. If the enable input is logic low, the divider is disabled and the divider output will remain at a logic low state.

The SIT8008AIE7-18E is a reliable and cost effective programmable oscillator used in many different applications mainly related to communications, audio and closed circuit television.
