Programmable oscillators, also known as digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs), are designed to manage a variety of signal frequencies with a single device. The SIT8008AIR3-25S programmable oscillator module offers a wide frequency range and low cost, low power operation. The SIT8008AIR3-25S is a surface mounted device (SMD) IC package, consisting of a (VCO) voltage-controlled oscillator integrated circuit, as well as external components fitted onto a 20-lead SOIC. It is suitable for applications such as remote controls, electronic clocks, digital video, audio, and multimedia devices.

The 8800G programmable oscillator module is based upon the idea of a voltage-controlled oscillator or VCO for short, a circuit which is designed to produce a repetitive output signal that varies in frequency in response to an input voltage. It can be programmed by multiplexing a set of logic signals from a range of external logic control registers. The frequency output of the SIT8008AIR3-25S can be adjusted with external logic controls, such as switches and programmable logic devices (PLDs), with a maximum frequency range of 1kHz to 8MHz. This makes the device ideal for a wide range of applications.

The SIT8008AIR3-25S features an enhanced frequency range, up to 8.75MHz, with low power consumption and an extended use of high temperature stability over a wide range. It also features improved linearity and moderate frequency variation over temperature. Other features include an extremely fast start-up time of less than 5µs and low jitter, making the module suitable for a wide range of embedded system, industrial, automotive and consumer applications.

The SIT8008AIR3-25S working principle involves the use of an integrated oscillator and an input register to control the frequency, phase, gain and power output.
