Programmable oscillators allow the production of a wide variety of signals from frequencies in the low Hz range to frequencies in the GHz range. They are used in a diverse array of applications ranging from low-power/low-voltage consumer electronics to complex industrial systems, and from wired and wireless communications to medical and scientific instrumentation.

SIT8008AIR8-28S programmable oscillators are a high-performance oscillator offering a wide frequency range of 1-250MHz and low power consumption of 0.75W. It comes in a DIP24 package and is well suited for frequency agile applications. It is highly configurable and allows the user to program various parameters such as frequency, duty cycle and pulse width.

The SIT8008AIR8-28S utilizes a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) in order to create an oscillating signal. The VCO is an electronic component with two inputs, which are connected to an external control voltage source usually in the form of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Changing the control voltage will result in a change in the output frequency of the VCO. The SIT8008AIR8-28S also includes additional support circuits for configuration and adjustment of the VCO frequency.

In addition, the SIT8008AIR8-28S includes an external EEPROM which is used to store the programmed parameters. This allows for easy change of the oscillator’s settings without any need for manual adjustment.
