Programmable oscillators are used to generate fixed frequency signals that are programmable in nature and adjustable over a range of frequencies. SIT8008AIT7-25S is an example of such a programmable oscillator. It offers a wide range of features including programmable frequency between 100kHz and 250MHz, low jitter, and excellent temperature stability.

The oscillator has been designed as a direct replacement for non-programmable oscillators, such as quartz crystals and MEMS oscillators, in numerous applications. It comes with a tiny outline package, making it possible to fit into limited areas in many applications. This device is ideal for replacing the quartz crystal and MEMS oscillators in communication systems, surveillance equipment, and other applications where size, power consumption and frequency accuracy are of prime importance.

The SIT8008AIT7-25S works on the principles of Self-Oscillating Frequency Selecting International TimeBase Oscillator (SOFSITO). It consists of a temperature-stabilized quartz crystal oscillator (TCXO), an internal time reference and control circuitry in a single integrated circuit. This allows the device to precisely match the frequency of the oscillator to the reference frequency and adjust it over a range of frequencies.

The oscillator is already programmed for the desired frequency and power requirements, so there is no need for manual programming or calibration. It has a wide operating temperature range from -50° to +125°C making it suitable for use in a variety of applications. The TCXO provides excellent frequency accuracy and stability even in harsh environments. It has a low phase noise and jitter performance, making it ideal for demanding applications such as data transmission, communication systems, video transmission and digital video equipment.

The SIT8008AIT7-25S is designed with a high degree of integration and is supplied with an integrated voltage regulator and on-board voltage diagnostics.
