Programmable Oscillators: SIT8008BCB8-28E application field and working principle

Programmable oscillators are electronic circuits which read an external, digitally-coded program and directly generate a frequency or period that is predefined by the code. They offer superior stability and accuracy when compared to conventional, voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) and are designed to provide high performance, flexibility and cost-effectiveness in a wide range of applications.The SIT8008BCB8-28E is a miniature, 8-pin programmable ceramic oscillator developed by Saline Impedance Technologies (SIT). This device is available in a small, compact package and features a low-voltage CMOS oscillator, high-speed programming, low power consumption, and excellent shock and temperature stability.In terms of application field, the SIT8008BCB8-28E oscillator can be used in a wide range of digital and analog electronics, including automotive, embedded systems, wireless telecommunications, industrial control systems and timing circuits. This device can also be used in portable instruments and systems, such as mobile phones and remote sensing units.In terms of working principle, the SIT8008BCB8-28E oscillator consists of two main components: an oscillator circuit and a programmable logic array (PLA). The oscillator circuit is designed to generate a clock signal with the desired frequency accurately and reliably. The PLA works to read the digitally-coded program and set the clock frequency accordingly.The SIT8008BCB8-28E oscillator is powered by a clock signal and a voltage of 1.8V – 3.3V. When the power supply is applied, the device will start to generate a frequency signal with an accuracy of +/-150ppm. Furthermore, the oscillator can be programmed to output a signal with a frequency range of 0.5 MHz to 74.3 MHz.In addition, the SIT8008BCB8-28E oscillator provides excellent shock and temperature stability.
