Programmable Oscillators aim to provide high-performance frequency setting, phase shifting, and amplitude steady output signals. One example of such oscillators is SIT8008BIE3-25N from Taitien – a leading supplier of high-tech frequency control products.SIT8008BIE3-25N is a Programmable Oscillator that offers smooth frequency sweeping as well as excellent stability over a wide temperature range. With a voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V, it has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 °C and an output swing of 0.8Vpp minimum to 3.0Vpp maximum. It features logic input (CKSEL) controls, phase lock loop (PLL), programmable pull-in bandwidth, and auto power-down. In terms of its application fields, SIT8008BIE3-25N is ideal for modern communication systems which require a well-controlled frequency range, high accuracy, and good stability. Due to its intelligent design, it provides programmable frequency control for set-top boxes, cable modems, gigabit ethernet connections, and other high-speed data transmission applications. Moreover, it is suitable for long distance wireless applications, cable networks, satellite communication systems, automotive electronics, and industrial measuring tools. The working principle of SIT8008BIE3-25N can be best described in terms of its feedback control loop. In a closed loop control system, the loop consists of four main components viz. the oscillator, the Phase-Locked Loop (PLL), the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), and the programmable divider. The PLL is the main controlling element of the oscillator, which regulates the output frequency via the frequency divider and the VCO. In the SIT8008BIE3-25N, a C-MOS differential charge pump PLL circuit is used and depending on the frequency setting, the feedback loop adjusts the frequency until it reaches the desired frequency range. Furthermore, the pull-in bandwidth and auto power-down features aid in providing a more stable and efficient output signal. The pull-in bandwidth, which controls the transition of the output frequency while adjusting it to the required frequency, is set by the CKSEL pins, and the auto power-down feature automatically reduces consumption when the output frequency is not used. All in all, SIT8008BIE3-25N provides a reliable and adjustable solution for frequency control applications. It offers wide compatibility, with its C-MOS circuitry, low power consumption and stable output signals.
